XP, badges and streaks
XP reflects work done and consistency kept. It is deterministic: do the thing, get the points. It is not a grade, and it does not affect one.
My Achievements shows your XP, your level, your badges and your history. There is also a shorter version of this page inside the product, one click from that screen.

Once means once
Nearly every row above is paid exactly once, and the platform keeps a record of what it paid you for. Redoing a lesson you already completed does not pay again, and neither does resubmitting a project you already passed.
This is deliberate. XP that could be farmed would say nothing about anybody, and the leaderboard would rank persistence at clicking rather than at learning.
Two rows have a different grain, and they are the exceptions worth knowing:
- Signing in pays once per calendar day.
- Feedback pays once per week.
The daily login is counted against the server's day, so if you are in a distant time zone and sign in close to midnight, the award can land on what you would call yesterday.
Levels
Your level comes from your total XP:
level = whole part of the square root of (total XP ÷ 100), plus 1
Which in practice looks like this:
| Total XP | Level |
|---|---|
| 0 | 1 |
| 100 | 2 |
| 400 | 3 |
| 900 | 4 |
| 1,600 | 5 |
| 6,400 | 9 |
| 10,000 | 11 |
Each level costs more than the last, so early levels arrive quickly and later ones are earned.
Badges
Badges come in seven categories, and each category has the same seven tiers:
Initiate → Rookie → Specialist → Pro → Master → Grandmaster → Legend
| Category | What it counts |
|---|---|
| Lessons | Lessons completed — 5, 25, 50, 100, 200, 400, 800 |
| Projects | Projects completed — 3, 7, 15, 25, 40, 65, 100 |
| Quizzes | Quizzes completed — 3, 7, 15, 25, 40, 65, 100 |
| Project quality | Projects scored above 85% — 1, 5, 10, 15, 25, 40, 65 |
| Quiz perfectionist | Quizzes scored above 90% — 1, 5, 10, 15, 25, 40, 65 |
| Streak consistency | Longest streak — 3, 7, 14, 30, 60, 100, 180 days |
| Level | Level reached — 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 34 |
The Badges tab shows all of them, including the ones you have not earned yet, with how far off you are. Two categories are worth pointing at: quality and perfectionist reward doing the work well rather than doing more of it, and they are the slowest ladders on the list.
Streaks
A streak counts consecutive days you have been active. It appears on Home and feeds the streak badges.
The milestone bonuses are paid once per milestone, not every time you pass one. Reaching seven days pays 50 XP once; a second seven-day run later does not pay again.
If your organisation has streak reminders running, you are emailed when a streak is about to lapse. You can turn that off in your preferences.
Leaderboards
XP Leaderboards ranks you three ways:
| Tab | Ranks you against |
|---|---|
| My Class | The people on your course offering |
| My Cohort | Everyone in your cohort |
| Overall XP | Everyone in your organisation |
The first two are the interesting ones. Overall XP rewards people who have been on the platform longest as much as anything else; your class is people doing the same work at the same time as you.
